Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). She became a Washington general reporter to NBC News two years later. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent by 1988. Mitchell became the Chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was host and an expert panelist on the TV program Meet the Press. She participated as a member of the panel at 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in the John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. It was a time when both Ronald Reagan terms in office. She covered a wide range of interesting stories such as weapons control, the budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal. She also went on numerous trips with the president Reagan to meetings alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
